As a part of a grant recently awarded to the D.C. Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) and the New Building Institute (NBI) for the writing of the 2026 D.C. Net-Zero Energy Code, Modern Consulting Partner, Lamar Richards, will be leading the community engagement and strategy portion of the two-year grant. Richards, through his work with the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development, will also support the launch of a Community Advisory Group and the creation of a Racial Equity Framework to guide the creation of the new Net-Zero Energy Code.
The grant will support a rigorous and community-driven process to help D.C. and surrounding jurisdictions achieve a comprehensive carbon neutral, high performance framework for residential and commercial developments by 2045.
